Celebrating Elle's 4th Birthday

A Magical Mermaid Birthday - little girl fourth birthday

I blinked… and somehow my youngest baby, Elle, is FOUR.

This one feels extra tender. Four feels big. Four feels independent. Four feels like I’m watching her become her own little person in the most beautiful way.

With Ariel as her favorite Disney princess, mermaids have always had a special place in Elle’s heart. So when we asked what she wanted for her birthday theme, she didn’t hesitate — a magical mermaid party.

So we leaned all the way into her love of life under the sea. A shimmer backdrop for that soft underwater glow. Layers of pink, aqua, and lavender balloons shaped like a mermaid tail. A seafoam cake decorated with pastel mermaid tails, coral, and starfish. And of course, Elle in her mermaid ballet dress — finished with metallic purple boots because she insisted… and honestly, it made the whole look.

Below are some of my favorite images from her special day — a little snapshot of this season before it slips into the next one. If you’re planning your own mermaid celebration, scroll to the bottom for all the shoppable details from her dress to the cake décor.

If you’re planning a mermaid-themed birthday of your own, here are the details we used to create Elle’s underwater adventure:

This celebration felt simple in spirit, but it certainly wasn’t effortless. There were late nights online shopping, balloon tying until my fingers were sore, and frosting mixing — so much frosting mixing. I made her rich chocolate cake from scratch with homemade buttercream, using dye-free food coloring to achieve those soft seafoam and lavender tones. It took time and intention — and it was worth it.

Long live girlhood — the twirls, the imagination, the confidence blooming right in front of me.

Happy birthday to my little mermaid, my dream girl!
