A healthier alternative to a favorite household snack.
In a world filled with processed foods, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of what we feed our children. As parents, we all want to provide healthy, wholesome snacks, but the convenience of store-bought items is tempting. Unfortunately, many packaged snacks are loaded with preservatives, excessive salt, and ingredients we can’t even pronounce. That’s why finding creative ways to make snacks at home can be such a game changer.
My latest healthy alternative recipes is three ingredient goldfish crackers, shaped like stars for an extra fun twist! With just three simple ingredients—flour, shredded cheese, and butter—you can whip up a batch of these cheesy crackers in no time. Not only are they easy to make, but they also give me peace of mind, knowing exactly what’s going into my kids’ snacks.
To make them, simply combine 8oz of cubbed cheese, 1 cup of flour (all purpose or almond), and butter in a food processor, slowly adding a few tablespoons of ice cold water, to form a dough. Roll it out, cut star shapes using a small cookie cutter, and bake on 350 until golden (5-7 minutes). These crackers are perfect for lunchboxes and snack time.
By making snacks at home, we can avoid the artificial additives and provide our kids with nutrient-rich options. Plus, heart-shaped crackers make snack time fun! Try it out and see how these homemade goodies can bring both joy and nutrition into your little ones’ lives.
